⚡️Creator of Vim, Bram Mooleanaar Passes Away at 62 @takebackourtech If you're a developer, you may have heard of the Vim text editor, a legendary piece of software that improved on the original vi editor distributed in Unix systems. Released in 1991 and still maintained today, vim is used by millions and remains one of the most popular text editors of all time. Vim's creator Bram Moolenaar has passed away at 62. His family announced (Google Groups link) his passing on August 5th: It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that Bram Moolenaar passed away on 3 August 2023. Bram was suffering from a medical condition that progressed quickly over the last few weeks. Bram dedicated a large part of his life to VIM and he was very proud of the VIM community that you are all part of. Bram was also the creator of the 'charityware' concept, where people could only vote on software features if they donated to a charity of the developer's choice.
