π Russia's coal exports via the RZD network surged over 17% in April amid the Middle Eastern conflict, recovering from a 3.8% decline in Q1 2026, reaching 43.7 million tons, according to Pavel Shestakov, deputy director of the Institute of Economics and Transport Development (IERD), a subsidiary of RZD. Experts predict an annual coal export increase of up to 2%, with loading levels on the RZD network expected to remain stable compared to last year.
