I keep mentioning one of the advantages of ICF construction is both insulation and thermal mass. Here is thermal mass to the extreme. I'd also like to add that the unheated portion of my basement is 7' in the earth and 3' above. When it was 14F here a few weeks ago, the basement was never below 48F. I have no large glass windows to pull in warm sunlight there, just the stability of the earth.
