A job is less risky than starting a business. A girlfriend is less risky than marriage. But in the long term, starting a business and marrying are FAR REWARDING. The reward is in two folds: 1. Compound Interest 2. Personal long term transformation A job that pays you $5,000/month for 2 years is $120,000 total earnings. That looks huge to many people until you deduct taxes, expenses, etc. Starting a business with $0, starving & sacrificing for 2 years to build a $1 million company is not only rewarding but actually possible. On marriage, spending $20,000 on a marriage ceremony and $1000 a month to keep your home seems expensive untill you have three girlfriends who wont commit fully to you but cost you $2000 each to "keep". The transformation side is real too. Nothing can beat what you become from starting a business from nothing to $1MM valued company. It transforms you internally. Being called up at emergencies to handle wife or children "issues" gives you some experience a single man won't have. So why don't people start businesses or marry despite all the "goodies" attached to either choice? The simple answer is FEAR.
