The Network Engineering Center of SPbPU and PSTU, as well as the Center for Virtual and Augmented Reality were opened at the university. 💫 Now polytechnics together with scientists from PSTU will be able to conduct joint fundamental and applied research work in the field of new materials and additive technologies. The peculiarity of the Center is that students have the opportunity to learn both on physical installations and in virtual reality with the help of VR technologies 🎉🎉 📐 The first results of the joint engineering center were unique robotic complexes of laser and hybrid laser-arc welding, as well as a mobile laser cladding complex. The equipment allows welding metal up to 3 cm thick in one pass!

Chemical agent 223 fights for women's health 💚 Today we want to tell you about the development of Polytechnic scientists - radiopharmaceutical based on radium-223 isotope, which can be used to treat breast cancer. Particles of this substance have long been used in medicine to fight metastases in prostate cancer. Polytechnics are learning how to redirect the action of the isotope to the right part of the body to fight cancer. In their study, they placed Ra-223 in a calcium carbonate capsule and sent it on a mission: to destroy metastases. In doing so, the scientists looked to see which would do a better job with the mission: microparticles or nanoparticles 🤓 It turned out that putting radium into a calcium capsule can be done by simple absorption, which requires no additional equipment. The solution with the isotope is mixed with calcium carbonate, and after a while the carrier absorbs it without any manipulation, which means that the drug production process will be simple and economical.

SPbPU is the Premier League of the National Aggregate Ranking Polytechnic University is in the Premier League again, having not left it since its first issue. The Premier League includes 40 of the best universities in the country, and the ranking includes a total of 686 educational organizations, divided into 10 leagues. The methodology of the National Aggregate Ranking considers the results of 12 rankings: RAEX, Interfax, Forbes, Superjob, HeadHunter and others. The rankings should meet the requirements of publicity (full information is presented in open access), stability (they exist for at least three years), mass (at least 100 universities are evaluated) and periodicity (evaluation is conducted annually).
