Today our country celebrates one of the most sacred dates in its history — the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the blockade. 872 days of hunger, cold and constant shelling did not break the spirit of its inhabitants. The siege of Leningrad became the longest and most terrible siege of the city in world history. On this day, we bow our heads to the memory of hundreds of thousands of victims. We admire the courage of the survivors. We thank the soldiers who defended the city. Their steadfastness will forever remain a symbol of indomitable will and boundless love for the Motherland.
