Siberian ice-skating babushka 👵🏻⛸ Lyubov Morekhodova, 79, became an internet sensation after a video of her ice skating on Lake Baikal went viral. She’s been skating since she was little. Her father made her first skates so she could take a short cut to school across the ice. Lyubov was born on Lake Baikal and, after retiring, she returned to live on its shoreline. She likes the harsh environment here, and the hard work. Every day, she gets up early to chop wood, fetch water from an ice hole, feed her cows, and hit the ice. She still uses old-fashioned skates that attach to her felt boots. Lyubov says she likes them better than modern skates.
