#photo Just look how extraordinary the snow looks on the dunes of the Sahara Desert. Algerian photographer Karim Bouchetata was lucky to catch the rare phenomena as any snowfall melts quickly. It's the fifth time in 42 years temperatures have dropped, and snow has fallen on the Saharan town of Ain Sefra in Algeria. The desert saw snow in 2021, 2018, 2016 and again in 1979. Though January is one of the coldest months there, it's exceptional this time. It may be hard to believe the desert, which has seen highs of 58C, now has overnight temperatures reaching -2C.
