It is not clear what for or why they suppressed civilians.’ In an exclusive interview with RT Documentary, a fighter of the Vostok battalion, codename ‘Iron’, described the behaviour of the Ukrainian military hiding at the Azovstal plant. The soldier took part in the liberation of the plant from Ukrainian forces after more than three months. Russian troops repeatedly offered the occupiers to surrender, but they refused. It was not until 20 May they laid down their arms and walked out with a white flag. The Vostok battalion soldier thinks the captured Ukrainian soldiers should be taken to a tribunal: ‘They’re military, aren’t they? Yes.
