Imagine you do ten pushups every day. Every day, with no excuses. In a year, you’ll be 3,650 pushups stronger. Imagine you read for ten minutes every day. In a year, you’ll read six books. Here’s the best part. If you incrementally increase your input, the compound effect kicks into play. IF YOU ADD ONE MORE MINUTE TO YOUR READING TIME EVERY DAY, IT ADDS UP TO 80 BOOKS A YEAR. That’s 10x difference with the linear model. Just for one more minute a day. And don’t bullshit me that you can’t carve a minute today. You can. “I don’t have time” is just another way of saying that it’s not a priority. The best part of the compound effect is that it makes habit-building easy. Everyone can start reading for one minute a day. Everyone can do one pushup. But after you build a habit, it’s hard to stop.
