April venture flows were telling. Exchanges pulled in the most capital with $231M across only six deals, while DeFi and AI dominated deal count but with much smaller average checks. Investors are still funding applications, but the largest allocations continue flowing toward distribution and infrastructure. Payments and rails remain one of the few areas where both activity and capital size are growing at the same time.
