A U.S. startup called Lila Sciences(based in Cambridge, Massachusetts) has made it its mission to pursue “scientific superintelligence.” 🧠
💡 Their model is this: artificial intelligence + fully automated laboratories (robots, sensors, lab equipment) + a rapid experiment-and-learn loop. In other words — the AI proposes a hypothesis, the lab tests it, the result goes back to the AI so it gets better and then produces another hypothesis.
For example, they’ve said their system has already produced “thousands of discoveries” — in domains like biotechnology, materials science, and clean energy; for example discovering new metals for clean hydrogen production, designing materials to capture carbon from the atmosphere.
⚡️ Simultaneously, Lila intends to make this platform available to companies in energy, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals — meaning they’re not only doing discovery for themselves, but want to be a “scientific-infrastructure” provider for others.
💵Recently, Lila succeeded in raising $115 million in an extension of their Series A funding round, pushing their valuation past $1.3 billion.
These funds come from major investors — including Nvidia — and are significant because they show that capital is going seriously into “AI for science,” not just AI for chat, images or games.

In October 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed that a broad range of U.S. software-based technologies be heavily restricted from being exported to China.
🇺🇸
🖥 Under the proposal, devices such as laptops, engines and industrial equipment that either use American software or were produced using it might face export bans — aiming to prevent China from accessing America’s sensitive technologies and supply chains.
✅ Senators Rick Scott and John Moolenaar backed the move, calling it a “major step for national security, the protection of American innovation and controlling China’s influence.”
📛 At the same time, the company Anthropic, developer of the “Claude AI” model, announced it will no longer provide its AI services to companies largely owned by Chinese entities.
