The UK High Court rules in favour of the patenting of inventions using AI The UK High Court has ruled that certain inventions related to artificial intelligence can be patented. The decision was made by the High Court in relation to an AI system that provides recommendations on media files, such as selecting music according to a listener's preferences. The system uses a trained artificial neural network that works in a similar way to the human brain. Judge Antony Mann found the invention suitable for patent protectionon the grounds that on the grounds that the ANN-based system was not a computer program (which cannot be patented) and that it worked distinctively differently from the underlying code. Люди пугаются образа всесильных машин, которые вот-вот станут как из фильма «Терминатор» - поработят человечество. Но этот страшный сценарий - всего лишь страшилка, созданная в воображении и СМИ. Пришло время разобраться, что же на самом деле представляет собой искусственный интеллект. Главный миф, связанный с термином «искусственный интеллект», - это ожидание, что машины вот-вот возьмут власть над нами. Это чистой воды фантастика, отвлекающая от настоящих достижений и проблем. Существует ещё одно заблуждение, распространённое в духе поверхностных репортажей и «умных» комментариев: якобы задачи распознавания образов - будь то фото, аудио или анализ сложных сцен - это нечто невероятное, высшая точка развития ИИ. А если к этому добавить демонстрацию альтернативного поведения на основе анализа - сразу требуется писать «три закона робототехники» и тосковать о нашем будущем как вида. На самом деле то, что производят сегодня, - это не искусственный интеллект в полном смысле. Это сложные механизмы, совмещающие в себе функции камеры и ручки Паркер. Лучшие из них умеют в реальном времени анализировать дорожную обстановку и даже объезжать не самого смышленого пешехода - но это отнюдь не ум. Более того, сама идея, что такой искусственный интеллект связан с пониманием или разумом, выглядит нелепой: если бы он был разумным, он бы просто давил препятствия.🙃 Задачи распознавания и анализа важны, увлекательны и порой завораживают своим технологическим совершенством. У многих моих знакомых был настоящий роман с этой темой - сколько страсти и неожиданных поворотов! Но сегодня это не про ИИ, это про технологические инструменты. Настоящее искусственное мышление появится лишь тогда, когда накопится достаточная база знаний о мире, когда она будет всесторонне проанализирована на причинно-следственные связи - и, главное, когда появится некий робосоциум. Робосоциум - это общество роботов, обменяющихся знаниями через язык, который они самостоятельно создадут и будут развивать синхронно с изменениями в своих базах данных. Этот язык будет «живым» - независимым от человеческого влияния, средствам их собственной социализации. И лишь когда этот этап будет достигнут - когда роботы смогут говорить своим языком и обмениваться новыми идеями автономно - можно будет говорить о настоящем ИИ. При этом забыть про тест Тьюринга - к которому ещё все так часто обращаются - необходимо. Этот тест не отражает суть и возможности машинного интеллекта. Что хочу сказать, мои маленькие любители беспилотных комбайнов?: Сегодняшние технологии распознавания и анализа - не искусственный интеллект, а сложные инструменты, очень далекие от понимания и сознания. Битва с мифами важна не для устрашения, а для понимания, куда мы действительно движемся. Настоящий ИИ появится тогда, когда машины научатся создавать, использовать и менять свой собственный язык общения и взаимодействия - когда у них появится собственное общество и способность к истинному обмену знаниями.
