Die Aktuelle published the interview last April, suggesting it was an exclusive with Schumacher, who has not appeared in public since a serious brain injury from a skiing accident in December 2013. The end of the article revealed the interview to be entirely generated by AI.
The Schumacher family pursued legal action, resulting in a settlement confirmed by the Munich Labor Court. Funke media group, which owns Die Aktuelle, apologized and terminated the contract of the editor-in-chief responsible for the publication.
The family continues to maintain strict privacy regarding Schumacher's condition, with limited information shared even in a recent Netflix documentary about his life and career.
