⌨️ Exercise: The Unspoken Truth Objective: Write a scene where the true emotional stakes are never explicitly stated. Setup: ➖ Two characters meet in a public place (e.g., a café, train station, or bookstore). ➖ They are discussing something mundane: a recipe, a recent movie, or weekend plans. 😀 Beneath the surface, one character is hiding a painful truth (e.g., they’re leaving, they’ve betrayed the other, they’re in love but afraid to say it). Rules: ✖️ No direct mention of the hidden emotion or situation. ✖️ Use body language, tone, pacing, and word choice to hint at the deeper reality. ✖️ Keep it under 500 words. Bonus Challenge: After writing the scene, give it to someone else and ask them what they think is really going on. If they can sense the tension or guess the hidden truth, you nailed it.
