KTON Targets $6.12B Liquid Staking Market
KTON, a liquid staking protocol by TONX, is set to launch V1 in February, aiming for a significant market expansion in the $6.12 billion liquid staking sector on TON. With Telegram's full support for TON, KTON plans to allow users to stake TON while earning KTON tokens, offering institutional-grade security. The project sees a potential growth from the current liquid staking market of $377 million to match Ethereum's levels, aiming for an 18-fold increase. KTON integrates with leading DEXs like Ethena and Curve Finance to provide flexible income strategies in the DeFi space.

Take on the Grok–Telegram Partnership
The partnership is set for one year, and as we've all seen, it introduces a fantastic set of features. If implemented effectively, it could be a major enhancement to Telegram, opening up plenty of opportunities for AI integration within the platform.
That said, it’s important to acknowledge that AI needs data to improve and evolve. Fortunately, based on the information provided in the video, only publicly available data and user-prompted inputs are sent to xAI. This means Grok’s integration isn’t overly aggressive when it comes to data collection. Given Telegram’s strong stance on privacy, I believe Durov isn’t likely to sell user data easily, staying true to Telegram’s ethos.
Looking ahead, since this is a one-year partnership, I see three possible paths for Telegram once the term ends:
1. Extend the partnership with Grok (xAI)
2. Collaborate with another AI provider
3. Develop its own AI solution
In my view, the third option is the most fitting for Telegram’s long-term vision. Independence in AI development would align with its values and reduce reliance on external partners. It’s also possible that this partnership is a temporary strategic move to compete with platforms like Meta, while Telegram builds its own AI infrastructure in the background.
Additionally, this move brings natural visibility and promotion from Elon Musk and through X (formerly Twitter), which is a marketing win for Telegram.
For those wondering why Telegram partnered with #xAI instead of ChatGPT—it's simple: #ChatGPT is in a dominant position and has no real incentive to negotiate or collaborate with Telegram. They don’t need #Telegram to succeed—they’re already at the top of the game. If Telegram had integrated ChatGPT, it would have made developing an independent AI to compete with it much harder. So in many ways, this partnership with xAI is a smarter move. It gives Telegram flexibility and keeps the door open for future independence.
Vietnam to Block Telegram Over Illegal Activity Concerns
#Vietnam to block #Telegram by June 2, 2025, citing its role in #illegal activities. Authorities claim 68% of Telegram channels in Vietnam involve fraud, drug trafficking, and anti-government content. The app’s encryption and lack of cooperation with local laws fuel scams, prompting the ban.
Vietnam is blocking the Telegram messaging app due to its alleged failure to cooperate with authorities in combating illegal activities.
The Ministry of Science and Technology’s Authority of Telecommunications has instructed telecom providers to implement technical measures to block Telegram by June 2, 2025, following a report from the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05). According to the government, 68% of the 9,600 Telegram channels and groups in Vietnam are involved in harmful activities, including fraud, drug trafficking, terrorism, and anti-government content.
Telegram’s lack of a legal entity in Vietnam and its refusal to share user data for criminal investigations violate local laws, such as Decree No. 147/2024/ND-CP and the Law on Telecommunications, which require cross-border platforms to register and comply with content moderation requests.
Additionally, Telegram has been linked to rising scams in Vietnam. Cybersecurity experts note that its features, like end-to-end encryption and the ability to delete messages for both parties, are exploited by scammers for fraud, phishing, and data theft. Since 2023, authorities have warned about scams involving fake investment schemes, cryptocurrency fraud, and romance scams. For instance, in May 2024, Nam Dinh authorities prosecuted individuals running 50+ Telegram groups with 25,000 members for prostitution and fraud, causing significant financial losses.
This move aligns with Vietnam’s broader push to control online platforms, as seen with regulations requiring user identity verification and content moderation. Critics argue this reflects increasing censorship, while the government claims it’s necessary for national security and public safety.
