Kendrick Lamar claims his Place as the Most Awarded Rapper at the Grammys This night in Los Angeles, Kendrick Lamar dominated the Grammy Awards, taking home five trophies. With these wins, Kendrick has officially surpassed Jay-Z in total Grammy victories, becoming the most awarded rapper in the history of the ceremony. He claimed Record of the Year for “Luther” with SZA. He also won Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance (for the Clipse & Pharrell Williams collaboration “Chains & Whips”), Best Rap Song (“TV Off” featuring Lefty Gunplay), and Best Melodic Rap Performance — once again for “Luther.” This year also marked the first-ever presentation of the Best Album Cover award. The winner was Tyler, The Creator for the visual design of CHROMAKOPIA. Meanwhile, Doechii took home Best Music Video for “Anxiety.”
