Building mental resilience is crucial. It’s actually very much similar to physical strength training, you alternate intense workouts and rest days. You step out of your comfort zone, talk to people, confront your aggressive coworkers, perform intense cognitive tasks, confidently show some leaderships to your peers, challenge yourself until you are about to crack, then you rest, vent out, get emotional or vulnerable, show some weakness to trustful close friends, then repeat that back again.
