The channel was inaugurated during Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent visit to India, with Putin himself unveiling it. At the launch, Putin stated, "RT strives to bring its viewers truthful information about our country and what is happening in the world." He emphasized the channel's mission, saying, "This is the absolute value of Russia Today. It differs significantly from the propaganda machine of many Western sources of information." President Putin's visit to India has already concluded.
