πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»πŸ§  β€’ On the second day of the international legal ethics program, issues of professional independence, the principle of confidentiality, and professional secrecy were examined As you know, an international educational program on legal ethics is underway at Tashkent State University of Law, organized in cooperation with PILnet and the international law firm White & Case. The first session of Day Two was devoted to β€œProfessional independence.” In this class, Jennifer Paradise, Partner and General Counsel at White & Case, Shukhrat Yunusov, Partner at Kosta Legal, and Shahzoda Tuychiyeva, Lecturer at the Department of Private International Law of Tashkent State University of Law, discussed the need for lawyers and attorneys to be independent in their decision-making, as well as the importance of being free from pressure by clients, the state, and other external factors. Participants analyzed examples from international practice and discussed real-world challenges related to maintaining professional independence. Practical sessions were then organized in two stages. Students, divided into groups, worked on case studies based on real legal situations. These sessions helped develop skills in logical reasoning, legal analysis, and teamwork. The practicums were led by experienced attorneys and international experts. During the day, there was also a session on β€œThe duty of confidentiality and the right of professional secrecy.” Jennifer Paradise (White & Case), Nazira Raimzhanova (Deputy Director of the Training Center under the Bar Association of the Kyrgyz Republic), and Shukhrat Yunusov (Kosta Legal) provided a detailed overview of the legal foundations of confidentiality in law, international standards, and complex situations from practice. The experts discussed the consequences of breaches of confidentiality, the nuances of protecting clients’ interests, and compared procedures in different jurisdictions. On the second day of the program, students gained valuable knowledge and skills for making sound decisions in real legal situations, maintaining independence, and ensuring client confidentiality, and they tried their hand at the role of attorneys and lawyers during the practical sessions. @tsulbox
