2️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ • Roundtable discussion on “Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Strengthening Interethnic Harmony” was held at TSUL At the initiative of the Department of International Law and Human Rights of Tashkent State University of Law, a roundtable discussion was held as part of a series of events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The event was attended by representatives of government bodies, civil society institutions, faculty members, and researchers from higher educational institutions. During the roundtable discussion, participants discussed the implementation of the provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in the Republic of Uzbekistan, achievements in the field of racial equality in Uzbekistan and abroad, a brief historical overview of the fight against racial discrimination, the role of education and culture in strengthening interethnic harmony, as well as the challenges and prospects for the implementation of the Convention in Uzbekistan. It was particularly noted that the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights has translated and published the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action in Uzbek, which play an important role in combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance. Participants emphasized the need to further deepen reforms in the field of human rights protection, to strengthen educational activities on tolerance in educational institutions, to conduct public awareness campaigns through the mass media, and to actively promote the ideas of multiculturalism among the youth. As a result of the event, an agreement was reached to prepare and publish articles aimed at raising public awareness of Uzbekistan’s activities in the field of human rights protection at both national and international levels. @tsulbox
