​​Шнобелевская премия по химии и геологии - Почему геологи лижут камни Шнобелевская премия - это пародия на Нобелевскую премию. Она вручается за сомнительные и нелепые достижения в науке. В отличие от Нобелевской премии, категорий довольно много, в том числе есть совместная награда по химии и геологии. В этом году Шнобелевскую премию получил Британский геолог польского происхождения Ян Заласевич за то, что объяснил в своих работах почему геологи лижут горные породы 🪨👅. Вот его эссе🔥. Если вы не знали, то да, полевому геологу только дай волю - все породы испробует. В своей работе Ян рассказал о том почему геоученые начали лизать горные породы, приведя в пример геоученых из XVIII века в полевых дневниках которых всегда были записи о вкусе минералов: бесвкусный, сладковатый, соленый, горький, глинистый. То есть язык выполнял фукцию научного инструмента для определения свойств горной породы. Соль (минерал галит - на картинке), конечно соленая. Но, например, минерал халькантит сладковатый, а эпсомит горький. Сейчас, "лизание пород", конечно утраченное искусство, но и по сей день геологи лижут породы, чтобы выяснить текстуру и структуру последней, т.е. сделать первоначальную классификацию. Язык прилип - значит в породе много порового пространства. Или можно плюнуть на породу, смочив ее, и выяснить некоторые подробности ее строения. Если интересны подробности, то можете почитать само эссе. Однажды ИИ сможет с легкостью идентифицировать породы, но как парадоксально бы это не звучало, даже сейчас язык, глаз и руки геолога остаются более надежным инструментом для определения первичных свойств пород и минералов.
