📄Article by Ambassador of Russia to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia in Kompas(February 4, 2026) Key points: • On February 3, 2026, Russia and Indonesia celebrated the 76th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This occasion offers a timely opportunity to review the progress of Russian-Indonesian cooperation in 2025, a landmark year marked by intensive high-level contacts and substantive practical agreements. • We continue to pursue a consistent course toward strengthening the Strategic Partnership. The Declaration was endorsed following the negotiations between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto held in St Petersburg on June 19, 2025. • Bilateral trade and economic cooperation continued to demonstrate positive momentum. In the first ten months of 2025, bilateral trade grew by 16,2%, reaching 4,02 billion US dollars. • A major milestone in further expanding trade ties was the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union, its Member States, and Indonesia [December 21, 2025]. The new trade framework provides for the gradual removal of tariff and technical barriers, including the elimination of customs duties on the vast majority of traded goods - 90,5% of Indonesian products and around 90% of product lines from the EAEU member states. • Rosatom State Corporation can offer comprehensive solutions in the field of nuclear energy, as well as a wide range of non-power applications of peaceful nuclear technologies, including nuclear medicine and the use of isotopes and radiological methods in agriculture, industry, and scientific research. • We continued to actively advance cooperation in the field of education. In the 2025-2026 academic year, despite an official quota of 250 places, 300 Indonesian students were awarded scholarships funded by the Government of the Russian Federation. Read in full
