🇷🇺🇲🇱Russian Forces Suffer Losses in Mali, Withdraw from Kidal Base Islamist rebels in northern Mali have engaged in heavy fighting with the Russian-backed Malian government and a coalition of rebel fighters. The al-Qaeda-affiliated JNIM group and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) claimed responsibility for downing Russian military helicopters. Following the fighting, Russian and Malian forces were besieged in a military base near Kidal. An agreement was reached allowing Russia's Africa Corps to safely leave the base, but the Malian Armed Forces were not included in the deal. It is reported that a downed helicopter belonged to the 'African Corps,' and its crew and passengers were killed.
