📰Iran has issued demands on Telegram.🇮🇷 The Islamic Republic, which partially blocked Telegram in December 2017 due to mass protests and completely blocked it in April 2018 for "failure to remove terrorist channels" (a January statement), 🧑‍⚖️has issued the following demands for Telegram to be unblocked in the country: ▪️ Restriction of ethnically provocative content; ▪️ Removal of publications based on citizen complaints; ▪️ Cooperation with Iranian judicial authorities; ▪️ Blocking channels related to terrorism or threatening national security; ▪️ Guarantees not to transfer user data to foreign intelligence agencies. The list was published by the WANA news agency. 🇮🇷 Iran has officially accused Telegram of coordinating terrorist attacks "on the Iranian parliament and on the grounds of the Imam Khomeini mausoleum" in 2017. Despite threats of blocking, Durov refused to compromise, citing Iran as an example of a country whose laws contradict Telegram's mission of preserving privacy and freedom of speech worldwide. He affirmed that the blocking in Iran, as well as in China and Russia, was due to "the messenger's principled stance on human rights." When Iran demanded that we block peaceful protesters' channels, we refused—and Telegram was banned in Iran. We are ready to leave markets that are incompatible with our principles, because we don't do this for money. We are driven by the desire to do good and protect people's fundamental rights, especially in places where these rights are violated. 💼 The leading entrepreneur stated that "no country in the world uses Telegram like Iran", since "out of 70 million people, about 50 million were using it at the time."
