📰Kaspersky Lab tracked the life cycle of fraudulent communities on Telegram and found that they last an average of seven months. After that, they migrate en masse to decentralized messaging apps like Simple X. Securitylab.ru reports on this. 👮‍♂️ Experts point out that Telegram is inferior to dedicated, secure messaging apps in terms of privacy, where "paper plane" doesn't use end-to-end encryption in cloud chats, where these servers are centralized, adding that the server code is closed. Based on data from the aforementioned Russian lab, out of 800 blocked resources, the average lifespan in 2021-22 was five months, while in 2023-24, it was nine months. This doesn't mean the persecution has abated. 🏰 Cybercriminals were trying to survive longer on Telegram. For example, they switched to a private mode with requests, or published harmless messages to disguise themselves, or added disclaimers and statements about the legality of the content. None of this prevents blocks, as the option to report them remains, and Telegram has tightened its content moderation. 🛳 In 2025, the BFRepo group (9k+ subscribers) announced its move to SimpleX, and Angel Drainer decided to create its own messenger with support for crypto protocols, which they recommend Telegram users move to those who prioritize privacy. ☝️ And remember one thing: all this doesn't mean the number of cyberthreats will decrease—criminal communities are solving the problem, where Telegram is emerging from the period when it was a mainstay for cybercriminals.
