Re: What’s going on in Ireland? 🇮🇪 Major grassroots protests are occurring spontaneously throughout the country. Many truck drivers & regional farmers have staged a makeshift strike, using their vehicles to block major highways in protest of extreme government taxation. The price of fuel is the main reason for the anger, 60-70% of the total cost of fuel in Ireland is government taxation. But one specific fuel tax that’s really pissing everyone off is a “carbon-tax”, which a recent Freedom of Information request revealed goes directly into the pockets of government officials and has never contributed to any investment into so-called “greener solutions”. Basically, the government is stealing public wealth and the people want it back. But government officials initially refused to make any concessions, instead sending cops to drag protesters from their vehicles and into jail.
