📰 Xournal++ adds tablet-friendly toolbar mode If you take handwritten notes on a Linux tablet, chances are that Xournal++ is already on your radar as its solid stylus support and touchscreen compatibility has earned it a loyal following among those who’d rather annotate PDFs or sketch diagrams than type everything out. One criticism that follows it around is its interface. It’s rather pointer-led; lots of menus, buttons and tiny hit targets in toolbars. 🔗 Source: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/03/xournalpp-tablet-mode-ui #linux

📰 Memerist is a new desktop meme generator for Linux Is the classic image meme dead, or buried under an avalanche of AI slop? Memerist, a new(ish) native meme generator for Linux, emerged on Flathub recently to help dig them out. Memerist is a native (GTK4/libadwaita) app for Linux desktop. It is technically an image editor with a focused set of features, geared to those who want a convenient, local tool to quickly create and share popular memes. 🔗 Source: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/03/memerist-meme-generator-app-linux #linux

📰 Linux runs most PC games now, and you don't need SteamOS to do it Linux gaming is slowly gaining prominence, and while it's definitely not mainstream, it has crossed a line of viability that sounded ridiculous even a few years ago. It's no longer a hobby project, but a real way to enjoy most of your favorite games. Not every title works, and a handful of popular multiplayer games still treat Linux like a second-class citizen, but by and large, even games that aren't supported by Linux natively will run... 🔗 Source: https://www.xda-developers.com/linux-runs-most-pc-games-now-and-you-dont-need-steamos-to-do-it/ #linux

📰 Some Linux kernels just got a nice LTS end-of-life extension, including 6.12 As much as the FOSS community has an excellent record for maintaining its software for long periods of time after a new version releases, people can't maintain an operating system forever. At some point, you have to cut off the old versions and redirect your efforts onto the newer ones. As such, Linux kernels do have an end-of-life date where support will end for that version. 🔗 Source: https://www.xda-developers.com/some-linux-kernels-just-got-a-nice-lts-end-of-life-date-extension/ #linux
