A Russian 'Alice in Wonderland' has been shortlisted for the 2026 Golden Trailer Awards. Not the film itself — just its trailer. The trailer will compete in two categories: Best Foreign Comedy Trailer and Best Foreign Animated or Family Trailer. For a film from Eastern Europe, making it onto the GTA shortlistis rare. Hollywood blockbusters usually dominate here. The ceremony takes place on May 28 in Beverly Hills. Winning — or even being nominated — is more than just a prize for editors. It's a clear sign to international distributors: the product is packaged to a global standard. What makes this interesting: the Golden Trailer Awards are often called the "Oscars of advertising." And projects nominated here don't always make it into other major award races. A good trailer, it turns out, is its own separate success story. 🎙️How this is discussed in English ⏩️ to be shortlisted — пройти отбор (оказаться в финальном списке) ⏩️ to compete in a category — соревноваться в номинации ⏩️ make it onto — попасть куда-то (с трудом / как достижение) ⏩️ a signal to distributors — сигнал для дистрибьюторов ⏩️ is packaged to a global standard — упакован на мировом уровне ⏩️ a separate success story — отдельная история успеха 📌Examples ⏩️ Only three trailers were shortlisted for the final award. ⏩️ The film will compete in two categories at the ceremony. ⏩️ For a small studio, making it onto the shortlist is already a win. ⏩️ A nomination here is a signal to distributors that the movie is worth buying. ⏩️ Every frame is polished — the product is packaged to a global standard. ⏩️ The trailer went viral on its own. That's a separate success story. 💬Does a trailer ever convince you to watch a film you'd otherwise skip?
