The Hall of Stars in the Palace of The Queen of the Night Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841) Both artworks are entitled the same. They were both designs for The Magic Flute, an opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). The first image is specifically a design for Der Hölle Rache, an aria sung by the Queen of the Night in the second act of Mozart's opera. The second image is a design for the sixth scene of the first Act. The Magic Flute is one of the most famous and recognizable opera arias (chances are that you recognize the music when you look it up). In the scene, the vengeful Queen of the Night persuades Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter Pamina from captivity under the high priest Sarastro. AETATESOLIS
