🎙Read excerpts from the statement of Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE A.Volgarev «On the recent developments in Moldova» (meeting of the OSCE PC, 08.05.2025) 💬 The current authorities, led by M.Sandu, continue the systemic suppression of fundamental freedoms and democratic institutions in Moldova: ▫️ Destruction of independent media—mass blocking of internet resources and bans on TV channels under the false pretext of "combating propaganda" ▫️ Restriction of civil freedoms—preparation of legislative initiatives that effectively prohibit the right to protest ▫️ Persecution of religious communities—pressure on priests of the Moldovan-Kishinev Metropolitan Church ▫️ Reduction of Gagauzia's autonomy—refusal to include E. Gutsul in the government and her criminal prosecution for disagreeing with M.Sandu's policies ❗️The escalation of repression ahead of the upcoming elections is particularly alarming, indicating the authorities' intent to retain control by any means. 👉Chișinău must immediately halt human rights violations and political persecution and restore the functioning of democratic institutions. 👉The OSCE must assess Moldova's systemic violations of the Organization's fundamental principles and ensure Chișinău fulfills its international commitments.
