📄 Ensuring equality between men and women, as well as the advancement of women, is one of the priorities of the State policy of the Russian Federation. In accordance with Article 19 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the State guarantees the equality of human and civil rights and freedoms regardless of sex, while men and women have equal rights and freedoms, as well as equal opportunities for their realization. ▫️All forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls are prohibited in the Russian Federation. Discrimination is understood as a violation of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of a person and citizen, depending on gender, race, nationality and other characteristics or membership in any public associations or social groups. ▫️Recently, through the efforts of a number of participating States, significant distortions have emerged in the field of gender equality and the advancement of women, including the imposition of non-consensual interpretations. We consider this approach unacceptable. ▫️We proceed from the understanding that the international community's decision-making in the field of gender equality should be carried out collectively on the basis of constructive, depoliticized international dialogue, respect for the national and historical peculiarities of each State, without imposing borrowed value systems and avoiding the policy of "double standards". 📄Read the Statement in full
