🎙Read excerpts from the statement of Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE A.Volgarev «On increasing military involvement of certain NATO and EU member States in yet more confrontation in and around Ukraine» (meeting of the OSCE PC, 22.05.2025) 🗓 On May 16, direct contacts between authorized representatives of Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul, initiated by Russia's President Vladimir Putin, aimed at finding ways for a sustainable resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. Such contacts were halted in April 2022 for over three years by the Ukrainian side under pressure from the then-British leadership ℹ️ This time, several NATO countries also made active efforts to prevent Kiev’s participation in contacts with the Russian side. To hinder dialogue, new conditions, ultimatums, and various political constructs were put forward. However, the consultations took place exactly in the format proposed by Vladimir Putin for resumption — without any preconditions 🇫🇮 The Finnish OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office lacked the resolve to welcome the direct Russian-Ukrainian contacts held in Istanbul on May 16 and the commitment expressed by the sides to continue consultations ⚠️ Finnish Foreign Minister E.Valtonen, currently heading the OSCE, speaks of a focus on continuing the military “build-up” of Ukraine even after a potential agreement on ceasefire. Helsinki has announced plans to utilize 90 million euros in revenue from illegitimately frozen Russian assets within EU member states’ jurisdictions to supply the Kiev regime with weapons and ammunition 🇷🇺 As for contacts held in Istanbul, Russia is satisfied with their initial results. In this regard, all parties with influence on the situation must demonstrate a genuine commitment to peace and finding mutually acceptable compromises. Russia’s position remains consistent and unchanged: it is crucial to address the root causes of the current conflict. Our country has all the necessary resources and determination to achieve the goals set with regard to the Special Operation in order to achieve a just and lasting peace
