🎙Comment by the Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE A.Lukashevich to “Izvestia” Newspaper on violations of the rights of the Russian and Russian-speaking population and media workers(July 14, 2025) 💬 We consistently use the OSCE platform to disseminate information about violations of the rights of the Russian and Russian-speaking population in the OSCE region, including in the Baltic states. We demand that the executive structures of the Organization, including the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, respond publicly to all cases of oppression of our compatriots. 🗓️ On June 30, the second joint report by the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries, "On the Human Rights Situation in Certain Countries" was presented at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna. The document, in particular, sheds light on the large-scale violations of the freedoms of the inhabitants of the Baltic republics. Racism and racial discrimination, persecution of "undesirables," destruction of Soviet historical and memorial heritage, falsification of history, glorification of Nazis and their accomplices, and religious intolerance are just some of the problematic issues. 🇷🇺 A special area of work for the Permanent Mission concerns the protection of Russian media representatives. We are in constant contact with the OSCE Representative on Media Freedom. We continue to urge the leadership of this executive structure to conscientiously fulfill its mandate, and we widely publicize numerous examples of repressions against Russian and foreign journalists within the Organization's area of responsibility, primarily in Europe. ☝️It is worth noting that the Baltic countries are no longer the "frontrunners" in terms of oppression of the Russian media – equally gross violations of the principles of freedom of speech have become more frequent in other OSCE participating States, in particular in Belgium, Greece, Romania, France, Germany, Switzerland and others. A course has been set to build an information "iron curtain," total censorship, and the eradication of any dissent based on the principle of "whoever is not with us is against us." 🔗Read in full
