🎙Read excerpts from the statement of Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE A.Volgarev «On further aggravating situation in the Republic of Moldova» (meeting of the OSCE PC, 11.09.2025) 🇷🇺 The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the OSCE expresses its strong indignation at the complete disregard by the leadership and relevant institutions of the Organization of the catastrophic situation in the electoral sphere in the Republic of Moldova. 🇲🇩 The Moldovan authorities have taken unprecedented steps by restricting the voting rights of citizens who traditionally support opposition. ▪️ In Transnistria, where approximately 350,000 citizens reside, the Central Election Commission (CEC) opened only 12 polling stations. ▪️ For nearly 500,000 Moldovan citizens in Russia, the number of polling stations has been reduced to just two. The goal of these actions is obvious: to deprive opposition parties of support from their voters. ⚡️ The CEC’s decision to deny registration to the "Victory" bloc, as well as the authorities’ campaign to forcibly dissolve four parties, has sparked widespread public outcry. ⚠️ Of particular concern is the use of the judicial system to suppress opponents. A striking example is the harsh sentence imposed on the Head of Gagauzia, Y. Gutsul. The actions of the Chisinau authorities, inspired by the team of M. Sandu with the support of external handlers, are aimed at suppressing dissent. ❗️Under these circumstances, we expect the OSCE structures to provide an immediate and principled response to the gravest violations of international electoral standards.
