🎙Read excerpts from the statement of Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE A.Volgarev «On the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances» (meeting of the OSCE PC, 11.09.2025) 🗓 August 30 is the annual International Day of the Disappeared or the Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The date was established by the UN General Assembly in 2010 to draw attention to the need to eradicate this criminal phenomenon. Enforced disappearances are a violation of a number of human rights, including the right to life, liberty and security of person, and a fair trial ▪️For many years now we have been talking about the monstrous crimes of the Kiev regime – political murders, mass forced disappearances of journalists, civil activists, public figures, and even ordinary citizens. All those who expressed disagreement with the policies of Kiev neo-Nazis and demonstrated any sympathy for Russia and the residents of Donbass have fallen under the roller of repression ▪️In post-Maidan Ukraine, which is striving to join the family of "civilized democracies" of the West, a system of so-called secret prisons has been built, where people suspected of "insufficient loyalty" to the Kiev authorities are taken. There are dozens of such prisons, they are located mainly in the frontline zone, and the people imprisoned in them are not included in official registers. They are subjected to torture and abuse, many do not survive. Often, relatives have no idea about their fate ▪️The situation is far from favorable in the EU member states. Specialized international organizations are concerned about the prevalence of enforced disappearances in the Netherlands, Austria, Great Britain, Belgium 📢 The few facts we have presented once again confirm the relevance of the problem being discussed today. We call on participating States to fulfill their international commitments, and the OSCE executive structures to respond appropriately to the practice of enforced disappearances or actions equivalent to them. Especially given that in a number of countries they are systemic in nature and are used as an instrument of political repression
