Special interest in Africa at the All-Russian Construction Conference International experts and analysts discussed the opportunities for Russian companies to work in Africa and the difficulties to be overcome at the round table "New Geopolitical Priorities of Russia — the African vector: opportunities and challenges in the development of infrastructure projects." The topic attracted special attention of the participants of the XV All-Russian conference "Russian Construction Complex". More than 570 construction projects worth 450 billion dollars are being implemented in Africa. Capital turnover in the African construction market in 2024 is estimated at $58.42 billion and is expected to reach $74.81 billion per year by 2029. At the same time, the average annual growth rate will be 5.07% over the next five years. "A number of our companies are already starting to invest in the continent, including in housing construction in Africa, and are entering into the construction of shopping malls and logistics infrastructure. Russia is now investing not only in the mining sector", said Andrey Gromov, member of the Board of AREA, founder of the GR-Group consulting agency. Gromov called on the leadership of Russian companies to pay attention to the construction sector, as in African countries the profitability of construction is at least 20% per year. "In the near future, measures will be taken to subsidize the construction sector, and special support measures are being prepared for investors going to Africa," the expert concluded. Every year the population of the continent is growing, 50% of the population of Africa are young people under 25 years old, active, ambitious, striving to get an education and realize themselves in their chosen profession or engage in entrepreneurship. Urban population growth, for example, in West Africa amounted to about 40%. The middle class is also growing, which means that upgrading infrastructure to meet the needs of a different level and quality of life for tens of millions of Africans is becoming in demand, said Yulia Berg, Director of the International Business Acceleration Center (IBAC). Berg outlined an approach that allows us to establish a new model of interaction and cooperation in Africa: "In order to find optimal processes and achieve actual results, and so that Russian companies can work as comfortably as possible in a new territory for themselves, work has been launched to create a Strategy for socio-economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and African countries. It is this approach that will allow business representatives to enter in small groups, including together with builders, suppliers of equipment and raw materials, and implement long-term programs effectively." #AREA#RSC#Africa#constructioninAfrica
Russia will build a nuclear power plant in another African country The Rosatom delegation plans to visit Rwanda to discuss construction of a nuclear power plant in the republic. The country's authorities and the leadership of the Russian company are discussing creation of a Center for nuclear Science and Technology, and subsequently a low-power nuclear power plant. This was stated by the new Russian ambassador to Kigali, Alexander Polyakov, in an interview with TASS. "I hope the visit will take place soon, although the initial timing has shifted somewhat to the right. But the point here is not the timing, but the content: arrival of the delegation here should be well prepared," the diplomat said. According to him, they will discuss, among other things, construction of a low-power nuclear power plant based on Russian-designed reactors. In 2018, Russia and Rwanda signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the area of peaceful uses of atomic energy. #Russia#Africa#Rosatom#NPP

🇲🇱Mali can be fully supplied with electricity through solar power plants The country has a unique potential in the field of solar energy. It is estimated at 398.7 gigawatts (GW) for large-scale solar photovoltaic projects. This is 197 times higher than the 2016 MW target set for 2030. The data leads to The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Malian Renewable Energy Agency based on the results of joint research. Scientists have identified and mapped the most promising areas for the placement of power plants. These strategic regions are located along the transport and electric networks, and solar photovoltaic energy is concentrated in the southern part of the country. African countries themselves, publicly, offer real projects for our colleagues to take those and work. #Africa#Russia#energy#AREA
New concepts in the energy sector were discussed in Moscow The prospects for the implementation of energy projects on the African continent and Russia's role in this work were discussed by experts, analysts and business representatives at the BRICS International Municipal Forum during the session "New Energy Solutions for Integrated Territorial Development". Within the framework of BRICS, a large part of the world's population is united to form a sovereign model for the development of the future. When such a global association is formed, new concepts are created. Andrey Gromov, member of the Board of AREA, founder of the GR-Group consulting agency, said that the African region in this context requires joint creation. "Russia can provide Africa with a large scientific and educational base. Our country has a huge experience in building an energy system. The African-Russian Energy Association proposes to solve these problems," the expert said. IBAC Director Yulia Berg revealed ways to solve many geopolitical problems. "Only an integrated approach will effectively ensure this very development in an accelerated mode. Only international cooperation based on new emerging alliances, including the expanded BRICS, will allow us to find the very synergy to launch qualitatively new changes," she said. Experts noted that Russia, as a member of the BRICS, can make a significant contribution to the energy development of other countries of the group by offering its experience and technologies. Bogdan Klyuyev, founder of Arctic Power Capital, Vitaly Trukhin, CEO of NER, Louis Gowde, Commissioner of Cameroon for Economic Cooperation in the Russian Federation, and Valery Korneev, Chairman of the Digital World Users Union, also presented their vision for solving the tasks. #Africa#Russia#energy

Babakov stated the need to create investment banks Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Babakov said that when supplying equipment to Africa, there is a problem associated with the Western banks and funds that will never finance the African continent in these areas. "We believe that it is necessary to organize investment and clearing banks adjusted by the standards of the Bank of Russia. The formation of a new currency, even in electronic form, with the still disputed provision of this currency, will allow accumulating so-called soft currencies so that this new financial system can export capital to primarily African countries," he said at a "Strategic session on legislative support for economic cooperation with countries Africa in the energy sector", which was held in the State Duma. #Africa#Russia#energy#StateDuma

Russian business in Africa needs official support During the "Strategic session on legislative support for economic cooperation with African countries in the energy sector" in the State Duma, Chairman of the Russian-Moroccan Business Council Yuri Sharov said that Russian businesses wishing to work on the continent do not have the necessary support from Russian official structures for new economic projects. According to him, the projects have not formed a comprehensive ecosystem. Preparatory work on a number of initiatives is scattered, many have not reached practical implementation. "Only the personal inclusion of each of us and the consolidation of efforts, not only of government agencies, but also of business and civil society, will allow us to solve this critically important global geopolitical task. The AREA Association is the right initiative. The problems of Africa and entrepreneurs working on the continent need to be solved with a united front," he said. #Africa#Russia#energy#State#Duma
There is a demand in Africa for creation of a sustainable energy infrastructure – Babakov At the "Strategic session on legislative support for economic cooperation with African countries in the energy sector", which was held in the State Duma, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Babakov said that according to forecasts by 2050, the population of the continent could range from 2 to 2.5 billion people. "This suggests that the potential of the African continent's energy market is very high. Key indicators indicate that both population growth and strong economic growth will continue. Due to the fact that the basis of GDP in many countries, especially in West and Central Africa, is agriculture and exports of raw materials, there is a significant demand for industrial development, requiring the creation of a sustainable energy infrastructure," he said. Babakov noted that Russian energy solutions, which have shown their effectiveness and sustainability even in difficult climatic conditions, could become a reliable basis for industrial growth in Africa and ensure a new quality of life for the population of the countries. #Africa#Russia#energy#State#Duma
