📍Monitoring Visit to Samarkand Region: Meetings, Dialogue, and Success Stories 📅 From February 11 to 13, 2026, the project team conducted a comprehensive monitoring visit to the Samarkand region within the framework of the project “Promoting Gender Transformative Territories/Communities through Civil Participation”, co-financed by the European Union (European Union in Uzbekistan) 🇪🇺 and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)) 🇩🇪, and implemented by the DVV International Uzbekistan in partnership with the National Center for Socio-Economic Development (NCSED) “SABR.” The visit covered Urgut and Akdarya districts and included monitoring of project locations 🔎, a roundtable with stakeholders 🤝, a meeting of the Project Coordination Group, as well as a networking meeting with participants of the informal NCSED “SABR” network. 🗣 Roundtable and Professional Dialogue 📅 On February 12, a roundtable was held in Samarkand with representatives of the mahallas “Mustaqillik” (Akdarya district), “Mergancha” and “Istiklol” (Urgut district), local authorities 🏛, graduates of professional courses, mentors, and active community members. The discussion focused on project results 📊, findings from the external survey, socio-economic and gender analysis, and practical application of the Step-by-Step Handbook to Gender-Transformative Communities. Participants emphasized the project’s contribution to fostering dialogue 🤝, strengthening community interaction, and enhancing the professional skills of low-income citizens. 👥 Meeting of the Project Coordination Group and Informal NCSED “SABR” Network Members 📅 On February 13, the Project Coordination Group and members of the informal NCSED “SABR” network met. Key results 📈 were presented, noting that the project’s success was ensured by the high engagement of network members and the well-developed infrastructure of local NCSED “SABR” centers. Participants expressed their readiness to continue implementing gender-transformative approaches ⚖️, including conducting gender-responsive needs assessments, maintaining a beneficiary database, and providing post-project support. The importance of involving men and working with families 👨👩👧 as unified social units was highlighted. 🌟 Monitoring and Success Stories During the visit, the project team met with vocational course graduates and recipients of business support 💼. 📍 Urgut District: • Ozoda Salimova (graduate of the 2024 confectionery course) started her own business 🚀 and employed two students. • Umidullo Nurmatov and Khusniddin Oripov (graduates of the 2024 and 2025 computer courses) provide home-based services 🏠 and earn a stable income. • Makhbuba Rozikova (graduate of the 2025 sewing course) successfully works from home 🧵 and supports her family. 📍 Akdarya District: • Mavluda Khasanova (graduate of the 2024 confectionery course) collaborates with shops 🏪 and earns a stable income. • Humora Isokulova (graduate of the 2025 sewing course) is expanding production 📈 and planning to explore new directions.
