🔹Ombudsman's Office strengthens cooperation in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms International conference "Interaction and cooperation in the field of reliable protection of human rights and freedoms" was held in Samarkand to mark the 28th anniversary of Ombudsman Institution of the Oliy Majlis. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, the Legal Reform Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The main purpose of the event is to exchange experience with Ombudsmen of foreign countries, national institutions, competent state bodies and international organizations in ensuring human rights and freedoms, strengthening cooperation in the field of labor migration. The conference is designed to unite forces, develop new mechanisms and models to counterbalance the problems in the sphere of human rights. The Kazakhstan Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights is represented by Mr. A.S. Umarov, Acting Head of the National Center for Human Rights. Representatives of human rights institutions and diplomatic corps from about 20 foreign countries took part in the conference. During working sessions of the conference topical aspects of protection of rights of women and youth, disabled people and detainees in penitentiary institutions were discussed, as well as issues of mutual cooperation of the Ombudsman with governmental bodies and representatives of civil society. As Mr. Umarov noted in an interview to the Uzbek media: «One of the effective approaches in implementing the mission of ombudsmen is a functioning on a permanent basis of regional representatives. This makes it possible to promptly ensure the protection of human rights. At the same time, the interaction with governments in resolving human rights protection problems provides synergy in achieving the ombudsmen's goals». #Ombudsman#HumanRights
