#UNGA80 🤝 On September 25, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu (Türkiye) had a meeting on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The Parties discussed the current state of affairs within the Organisation which remains mired in profound crisis due to attempts by a number of countries to subordinate its work solely to the Ukrainian agenda and Russophobic narratives. #UNGA80 🗓 On October 16, the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution — International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations.It had been drafted by the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the United Nations with Russia’s active contribution. The document was co-authored by 23 nations, among them: Algiers, Angola, Botswana, Togo and the Republic of South Africa alongside members of the Group of Friends. This date, December 14th, was a purposeful choice👇 It was on that day 65 years ago when, with the USSR’s decisive role,the historic UN Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples was adopted. It was a crucial milestone for liberation of millions of people in the Global South from the oppression by the colonial powers and led to the emergence of dozens of sovereign states on the world map. The current document is a follow-up to the UNGA Resolution 79/115 Eradication of Colonialism in All its Forma and Manifestations which was also adopted at the initiative of the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter. It puts the issue even more firmly on the UN agenda. The timeliness of these efforts cannot be questioned as the humankind is now facing both remains of that shameful age as well as new manifestations of colonial practices. It impedes a full-fledged socioeconomic development and hinders the establishment of a just multipolar architecture. An overwhelming support the resolution enjoys clearly confirms that it is much needed, it's constructive and unifying in character. The Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter is set to presently submit this document for discussion at the UN General Assembly plenary session.

#UNGA80 🇷🇺🇺🇸 On September 24 in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Heads of the foreign offices exchanged opinions on the Ukraine crisis settlement as a follow up to the understandings reached at the Russia-US Summit in Anchorage. The Parties have reaffirmed mutual interest in the search for peaceful solutions. Sergey Lavrov emphasised our country’s readiness to adhere to the line developed by the Russian and US leaders in Alaska, including to coordinate efforts with the US Side to remove the root causes of the Ukraine conflict. The Minister stressed the unacceptability of the schemes intended to protract the conflict promoted by Kiev and some European countries. The Parties compared their positions on the entire bilateral agenda including the prospects of restoring their socio-political contacts. They have reaffirmed the importance of using the impetus given by Russian and US presidents to the process of normalising bilateral relations. Both Parties noted the need for activating efforts to restore regular functioning of their diplomatic missions. 🤝 The Sides have agreed to maintain constructive dialogue between the Russian and US foreign offices. #RussiaUSA

Версия на русском языке 🇷🇺🇺🇳On October 1, Russia assumed the Presidency of the UN Security Council, the body entrusted with primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security under the UN Charter. The Russian delegation has scheduled two key events for the upcoming month. 📆October 23: Open Ministerial Debate on the Situation in the Middle East; 📆October 24 (Anniversary of the Entry into Force of the UN Charter): Open Ministerial Debate on the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations. Another key event for the UNSC in October is the visit of its member states to Addis Ababa to participate in a consultative event with the Peace and Security Council of the African Union on October 17. 👉 Overall, the Council's agenda during Russia's Presidency promises to be quite extensive. As part of the mandate and reporting cycle, there will be an open debate on the theme of "Women, Peace, and Security" and UN Security Council meetings to discuss the situations in Colombia, Somalia, Yemen, Western Sahara, the Great Lakes region, Haiti, Libya, Kosovo, the Central African Republic, Syria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meetings will also address the activities of the UN Disengagement Observer Force, cooperation between the UN and the African Union, and include a briefing by the President of the International Court of Justice. Plans are in place to extend the mandates of the following missions, all of which expire in October: the UN Support Mission in Libya, Operation Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UN Monitoring Mission in Colombia, and the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara. The Council is also expected to decide on the future of sanctions against Haiti. 🌐 As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, the Russian Federation will make every effort to ensure the body's work is smooth, coordinated, and efficient, and to find common ground on the issues on the agenda. В своей речи он выступил с резкой критикой политики замораживания активов: «Как соседняя страна, Кыргызстан считает важным в нынешних непростых условиях оказывать всестороннюю поддержку афганскому народу, интегрируя экономику Афганистана в региональные и мировые экономические процессы. Изолировать Афганистан на международном уровне и лишать его иностранной помощи — неправильно. Это несправедливо. Считаем, что использование финансовых инструментов в целях геополитической и идеологической выгоды для обострения гуманитарного кризиса является проявлением несправедливости и бесчеловечности. Поэтому мы убеждены, что замороженные западными странами активы Афганистана на сумму свыше $9 млрд должны быть возвращены афганскому народу как можно скорее. Эти средства могли бы способствовать восстановлению инфраструктуры, расширению доступа к кредитам через местные банки, развитию сельского хозяйства и созданию новых возможностей для миллионов людей, живущих в бедности. Вы используете эти средства и получаете с них выгоду. Это позор для вас. Согласно данным ООН, в 2025 году в Афганистане 15 млн человек столкнулись с голодом, а 24 миллиона нуждаются в гуманитарной помощи. Как всем известно, в начале сентябре в результате землетрясения более 2 тысяч наших афганских соотечественников погибли. К сожалению, из-за нехватки финансовых средств и слабой инфраструктуры пострадавшим не удалось своевременно оказать помощь. Мы призываем лидеров западных стран незамедлительно вернуть эти активы ради будущего афганского народа. Если вы действительно хотите, чтобы афганский народ как можно скорее выбрался из нищеты и голода — верните их без промедления.
