🇷🇺On this day 190 years ago, the great Russian surgeon and military physician Nikolai Sklifosovsky was born. 💉N. Sklifosovsky stood at the origins of field surgery and made an enormous contribution to the advancement of antiseptic and aseptic methods, which saved thousands of lives. 👏He was among the first to actively apply sterilization of instruments and dressings, significantly reducing postoperative mortality. 📕He authored a large number of works on military field surgery and abdominal surgery. 🎓He was an honorary member of the London Medical Society, the Society of Czech Physicians in Prague, the Societies of Surgeons in Paris and Budapest, as well as a number of higher education institutions in Russia and 20 different medical societies across the country.
