✨️ This year marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous philosopher Immanuel Kant. Kaliningrad, where he was born and spent his entire life, is the westernmost city in Russia. And here are four reasons why you should visit it: 1⃣ One of the main attractions of Kaliningrad is its cathedral (photo 1). It is here that Immanuel Kant was buried. The cathedral is one of the few Gothic buildings preserved in Russia. Organ concerts are regularly held here. 2⃣ The Curonian Spit (photo 2) is a must-visit place. It is a narrow strip of land framed by the Baltic Sea on one side and the Curonian Lagoon on the other. It is a unique natural place where you can find different landscapes - from dense forests to sand dunes. 3⃣ Kaliningrad's historic districts are especially cozy in the fall (photo 3). These neighborhoods were built at the beginning of the last century and miraculously survived the Great Patriotic War. Here is the Poplavok Lake, on warm days locals and tourists like to feed ducks and swans and just take a quiet walk. 4⃣ Kaliningrad region is the world's storehouse of amber reserves (photo 4). You can just walk along the coast and collect this "sun stone", especially after a storm. There is also an amber museum in the center of Kaliningrad, located in a 19th century fortress tower.
