🇷🇺🇮🇩 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putinheld talks at the Kremlin with President-elect and Defence Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who has come to Russia on a working visit. 💬 Vladimir Putin: We know you as a good friend of our country. You are not only respected in Indonesia as a prominent military leader but also as a political figure. You have held the post of defence minister for many years. I know that you have developed very good relations with your Russian colleagues. 🤝 Russia and Indonesia share a long-standing friendship that began decades ago. Next year, we will mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. 📈 I would like to note that our trade and economic ties have been developing very well recently. Despite the pandemic and the current developments around Russia, including associated restrictions, our trade has been growing. It has doubled over the past years. This is a very positive trend, which makes us happy. I hope that it will persist. We also hope that the draft agreement on the EAEU-Indonesia free trade zone, which is ready for signing, will play a positive and substantial role in the development of our trade and economic ties. <...> We are ready to further increase agricultural deliveries and implement investment projects in energy, transport and infrastructure. It is the responsibility of our intergovernmental commission. <...>. We also continue to cooperate in the humanitarian sphere. As per tradition, Indonesian students receive education in Russia, including on scholarships funded by the Russian budget, and we are ready to continue doing this. The Russian Centre for Science and Culture is operating in Jakarta. We would like to express our gratitude for supporting its work. 🌐 Last but not least, we also coordinate our positions on the international stage, including and primarily within #ASEAN. 💬FM Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the 11th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues(May 24, 2023) Key talking points: 🔹US is intentionally seeking to escalate tension around Taiwan as part of its so-called Indo-Pacific strategies. Washington has been drawing its satellites, not only those in Europe, but also in the Far East into its destructive plots. 🔹 During the NATO summit in Madrid, the West proclaimed the principle of indivisible security in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions, deciding to deal a fatal blow to the #ASEAN-centric security architecture in that part of the world. 🔹Instead of effectively cooperating for the benefit of all, the Anglo-Saxons have been deploying NATO’s military infrastructure in the region, established AUKUS and other variable-geometry military and political alliances in an attempt to draw several Southeast Asian countries into these incendiary games. All this cannot but cause serious concern. 🔹Some truly democratic interstate organisations are likely to provide crucial support in this work, organisations promoting a constructive, creative, and forward-looking agenda, and based on consensus rather than on the bloc discipline of the rod. Intensifying versatile ties between multilateral associations in Greater Eurasia, including the CSTO, the EAEU, CIS, SCO, #ASEAN, and CCAS, is highly relevant as well. 🔗 Read in full: https://is.gd/dO7Enp

🎙🇷🇺Press release on the briefing of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to ASEAN H.E. Mr. Evgeny Zagaynov on ASEAN-Russia Cooperation (17 May 2023, Jakarta) Q&A ❓The 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Labuan Bajo 💬We congratulate #ASEAN and Indonesia 🇮🇩 on the successful completion of the 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Labuan Bajo. The outcome documents cover a broad range of issues. The ASEAN’s efforts in advancing regional payment connectivity and promoting local currency transaction can be of particular practical interest. ❓Ukrainian crisis in the Chairman’s Statement of the 42nd ASEAN Summit 💬We noticed that in the Chairman’s statement of the Summit in Labuan Bajo ASEAN expressed its commitment to mitigate the impact of the situation that continues to affect negatively the region. Disruption of supply chains, rise in prices and concerns about food and energy security are direct results of the illegal unilateral Western “sanctions”. States that impose such measures should be responsible for their consequences for the developing countries in different parts of the world. It would be quite legitimate to raise the issue of the negative implications of the “sanctions” before their authors. ❓Situation in Myanmar 💬The role of the international community should consist in facilitating resolution of the current crisis without interference in the internal affairs of Myanmar while abstaining from threatening and imposing unilateral sanctions. Russia supports the ASEAN’s efforts on the basis of the Five-Point Consensus. Read in full
