✅On December 13, 2024, Moscow hosted the fourth meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which also included the participation of the heads of government from observer states of the #EAEU — Uzbekistan and Cuba.
✅The heads of government of the Union emphasized the effectiveness of the EAEU in the face of unfavorable external conditions, noting positive trends in key macroeconomic indicators. Between January and September, the Union's combined GDP grew by over 4.5%, industrial production increased by 4.5%, retail trade turnover rose by 8%, and passenger transportation expanded by 7%.
✅A key focus of the discussion was the recently launched supranational mechanism within the EAEU for subsidizing joint cooperative projects using the Union's budget.
The Embassy comment
The Eurasian Economic Union (#EAEU) is a powerful bloc not only in trade but also in industrial cooperation and scientific and technical collaboration.
Over 10 years of existence, the EAEU has established itself as an independent center of the emerging multipolar world. The activities of the EAEU contribute to the growth of trade and investment exchanges, the intensification of business contacts, and the expansion of cooperative ties, which bring real benefits to each member of the Union.
For example, the combined GDP of the Union's member states has grown from $1.6 trillion to $2.5 trillion, while trade turnover with third countries has increased by 60%—from $579 billion to $923 billion.
Currently, the EAEU has established full-fledged free trade agreements with China, Serbia, Vietnam, and Iran. These agreements have enabled the EAEU to significantly increase trade turnover with these countries. A positive trend is also observed in relations with China. Remarkably, Russian-Chinese bilateral relations have seen substantial success, with the volume of trade surpassing the $200 billion target set by the countries’ leaders by the end of 2023.
This year the negotiations on the similar agreements were held with the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, India and Egypt. Free trade zone agreements have also been discussed at various stages with Mongolia, Pakistan, and Israel.
Many countries are currently seeking not only to expand trade but also to simplify financial transactions. The EAEU can offer the necessary tools in this regard. For instance, within the union, the volume of trade conducted in national currencies has already surpassed 90%.
Russia highly values the mutually beneficial multifaceted ties with its EAEU partners and seeks to continue working on strengthening the integration ties within it.
#EAEU: Technological Sovereignty for Sustainable Development
The 6th Eurasian Business Forum "Integration" took place on November 15, with the plenary session focusing on the theme: "Technological Sovereignty and Industrial Cooperation in the EAEU: Implementation Mechanisms."
🎙️ Arzybek Kozhoshev, Member of the Board for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), stated:
💬 "Undoubtedly, in today's world, technological sovereignty is becoming an important factor in ensuring sustainable development. At the same time, energy and transportation are factors that provide not only physical infrastructure for the development of economic sectors, but also promote independence from external risks. Eurasian cohesion is becoming a certain competitive advantage for our countries”.
⚡ The importance of the "EAEU Five" countries pursuing a coordinated energy policy and their joint efforts in forming common energy resource markets is becoming particularly relevant.
✅Results of the III Eurasian Economic Forum
✔️ Around 2,000 participants from over 30 countries took part in the Forum, with a particular interest from business representatives—around 200 companies attended. Business dialogues between the EAEU-Cuba and #EAEU-Iran were held.
✔️ The business program of the Forum included more than 30 events. Participants of the EEF-2024 discussed key areas of economic cooperation among the #EAEU states, such as the strategic development of the Union, comprehensive cooperation and technological collaboration, digitalization, development of transport infrastructure and logistics, the quality of the internal market, entrepreneurship support, and international cooperation.
✔️ The main event of the III Eurasian Economic Forum was the plenary session on the theme "Digitalization in Modern Realities – An Imperative for Ensuring the Four Freedoms." The session was attended by the prime ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union countries: Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev. Honorary guests included the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Aref.
✔️ The Eurasian Economic Commission, together with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, concluded the II "Green Eurasia" competition, aimed at identifying technological leaders in the green agenda and promoting effective practices for climate adaptation of the economy in response to climate change. A total of over 300 applications were submitted in 15 categories. The winners and finalists included 57 of the best climate practices from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Iran, Egypt, and Indonesia.

2025년 1월 1일은 2014년 5월 29일 유라시아경제연합(EAEU)에 관한 조약이 발효되어 EAEU가 지역 통합 협회로서 실제로 기능을 시작한지 10주년이 되는 날입니다.
창설 이후 EAEU와 그 회원국인 러시아, 아르메니아, 카자흐스탄, 키르기스스탄, 벨라루스 공화국은 상당한 성과를 달성했습니다:
✅ 내부 시장이 기능 및 개선되고 있습니다.
✅ 국제적 협력의 지형이 확대하고 있습니다.
✅ 5개국 간 상호 무역이 꾸준한 성장세를 보이고 있습니다.
EAEU 국가들은 통관, 관세율, 비관세적 규제 및 기술적 규제, 산업 협력, 운송 및 물류, 에너지 및 농업 등 다양한 분야에서 호혜적 협력을 심화 및 강화하고 있습니다.
창설 10년만에 유럽연합은 국제 경제 관계의 주요 참가자가 되었습니다. EAEU의 국제 교류 네트워크가 이를 입증하고 있으며, 여기에는 다음이 포함됩니다.
• 베트남, 이란, 세르비아와의 자유 무역 협정,
• 중국과의 두 가지 비우대 협정,
