【 たけのこ (takenoko) 】bamboo shoot⁣ ⁣ There are two ways of writing the kanji for たけのこ:⁣ ⁣ 「竹の子」and 「笋」⁣ ⁣ The former stands for the plant (young bamboo). The latter stands for the vegetable (edible shoots).⁣ ⁣ たけのこご饭(はん) ”bamboo shoot rice” is a classic, simple Spring dish.⁣ ⁣ 1. Cook the rice with 出汁(だし) broth, soy sauce, sake, みりん (sweet sake), boiled たけのこ and 油扬げ(あぶらあげ) deep-fried tofu in a rice cooker or earthen pot. ⁣ ⁣ 2.
