I don’t think I can go shopping on my own with my kids anymore. Today at the shops I had my son (2) on a harness and my daughter (1) in the trolley while at the shops. Any and all parents know toddlers on a harness that there is a reason for that. He runs, and he runs fast. it’s quite common to see toddlers in harnesses here in Australia. we are at the shops shopping my son attached to the trolley and walking with us. Halfway through a man approaches me aggressively telling me ‘it should be illegal to treat children like dogs’. I continued on without a word to him, we go down two more aisles and I don’t see him again. Next minute someone is behind me on the corner of my trolley reaching for the harness strap. I instinctively smack their hand away and scream. Same guy trying to get the handle undone from my trolley. I pushed him back with such force he fell into the shop aisles shelving. A family came round and the husband saw this and I shouted he’s trying to take my kid. I don’t know him. Hes ranting and raving about how children are not dogs and I shouldn’t treat him like one. Staff and other shoppers came round to help. At this point I’m trying not to cry. I’m trying to calm my kids down. My daughter was banshee screaming non stop. the kicker here is, there were a few other kids in harnesses there. I think I saw 2. But I was the only one alone With my kids and not with a man. I’m 5’0 and tiny. I’m sure thats why he chose me. My son also looks quite precious. He has glasses, he looks exactly like the boy in stuart little except he’s 2 Years old. The guy eventually took off when they were saying they were contacting police. I stuck around for about 10 minutes but it was just turning to shit. My daughter had vomited from the stress, my son had wet himself. I gave the staff my details to give to police. A few hours after being home they contacted me and came over and took statements and had a look at my kids.
