None of my friends showed up to my brunch celebrating my small business A year ago I quit the cleaning business I worked for and set out on my own to start a one-woman cleaning business. I saved up and bought supplies, a professional vacuum, and started an IG to market. For my one year anniversary I planned a laid back brunch at a local bar my friends and I go to a lot and let everyone know the date and time almost a month in advance. My closest friends I’m in a GC with hyped me up for weeks, most promised to come (some had to work), then yesterday no one showed. The cancellation texts started rolling in about an hour before but several of my friends did not even text or check in, just completely stood me up. I am devastated and very hurt. I don’t have much to look forward to in life but my small business. I will never graduate, get promoted, and I’m not on track to have a baby or get married, so celebrating all the traditional milestones is out of the question for me. Now a day later a few people are apologizing, offering to reschedule and I haven’t replied because I just don’t know what to say. I don’t want to be petty and immature but I also don’t want to just wave it away and be like “that’s okay!” because honestly…. I feel like it isn’t. Multiple people who told me they would come out less than 24 hours before flaked.
