I understand the cultural aspect and, of course, the religious too, but as you know, the Arba Minch crocodile ranch has a sustainability issue because of the decrease in income from the skin market since the fashion industry is shifting from the leather industry. Actually, I read a BBC reporter's report that there is a high demand for the meat of crocodiles from tourists (Not the only ones actually😅), and they've been slaughtering and selling it. I personally believe that crocodile meat has to be exported from Arba Minch to other countries like China and Germany, which have a higher demand. It doesn't affect the sustainability of the crocodiles since only 60% of the eggs are brought to the ranch. Is Dawit Dagne mentioned in one comment that we have to think out of the box? It is truly worth it. I actually want to see this happen, and I am here to support research on any zoonotic disease issues we should consider.
