I met a young man in a taxi. He called my name, and I got a little confused. His face was not familiar. He also mentioned my high school friends, and I knew he was from my village. Then he said, "I’m your two-year junior. You advised me about the national exam and about dedication to a dream." Then I remembered him. I saw a hunger to be quenched and a desire to be valuable in life in that kid. He asked me, "How did you manage academics and your extracurricular activities, which made you famous back then?" I told him what I felt. To be honest, I was not sure about my future. I was wondering and asking myself how to make my life valuable. I was figuring out what life is—still in the process—but I was sure that doing so would pay off. I do remember saying, "ደግሞ ትልቅ ቦታ ደርሰን ይሄን ቀን ቁጭ ብለን እናስታውሳለን," and he is now in the Aviation Academy, training to be a pilot. He is on the path to making his dream come true. I never imagined "ትልቅ"would feel this ቅርብ. For me in high school, it seemed sooo far away, but it’s not. We exchanged numbers to keep in touch. This made my day. Even if you are not sure what the future holds, never give up on your dream. "Que sera, sera... Whatever will be, will be." 💙
