Деннис Тейлор, «Пока мы не сбились с пути» Вселенная Бобов — это серия, за рекомендацию которой меня чаще всего благодарят. Видимо, все остальные книги, о которых я пишу, либо очень хорошо известны, либо не находят отклика у настолько широкой аудитории. Пожалуй, нет смысла подробно писать о пятой части. Автор вернулся к рваному повествованию, состоящему из отдельных историй. У него это в целом получается хорошо, хотя тут некоторые истории меня зацепили (про центр галактики и исход, про ИИ), другие показались проходными или невнятными (про драконов, про виртуальную реальность для инопланетян). Многие темы стали максимально размытыми, вроде взаимоотношений с людьми. Ещё могу отметить, что, если первые книги сносно опираются на существующие физические концепции, то тут Тейлору пришлось больше фантазировать, иначе он бы упёрся в сюжетные границы. Это не плохо, если только вы не воспринимали «Бобов» как твёрдую НФ. Для меня такой ход был ожидаемым, разочарования я не испытал. Понравился момент установки взаимопонимания с инопланетными дронами, хотя конечно лучше, чем в «Аве Марии», первый контакт не описан нигде. Причина, по которой с центром галактики случилось то, что случилось, тоже подобрана хорошо, приостановку неверия лично у меня не сломала, но и угадать заранее я не смог. По итогу я бы сказал так: пятую книгу прослушал не без удовольствия, но шестую автору уже писать не стоит. Из этой идеи и вселенной выжато всё досуха.#fiction@clockstackwheels
